  1. Sorry, Sunday evenings have been taken up by West World. Fabulous HBO sci fi with James Marsden looking prettier than ever.

    2. James Marsden's in West World?! I wasn't going to watch it, but now I definitely am! Thanks, Peenee!

  2. Not watched it (nor its rival - and even more totty-filled - Poldark). But I am sure it's a feast for the senses... Jx

    1. JON: I feel I must now watch Poldark as I’ve only just discovered the delicious Aiden Turner in Agatha Christie’s And Then There Were None.

Miss Scarlet insisted that Mr. DeVice install a sidebar photo of Aiden Turner wearing nothing but a towel and when I saw that very image of him on the miniseries, I swooned and keeled over.

    2. You simply MUST watch Poldark! If you think Aidan Turner in a towel is swoonsome, just wait until you see him topless and sweaty scything hay! Or topless and sweaty down a mine! Or topless and sweaty making the bed! Siiighhh...

  3. Aah, Albert, Coburgian stallion.

In the Ehrenburg one can look at Vikkie's port-a-loo. And some paintings by Cranach 'n stuff.
"Cranach" by the way is saied to come from the town of Kronach nearby, in dialect it is still today called "Granich".

    1. MAGO: Here is a photo of Queen Victoria’s toilet at Ehrenburg Palace.

Am I correct that it was the first flush toilet in Europe?

    2. Sorry, no. The Romans had their public toilets with running water. But the first W(ater) C(loset), called "Ajax", was installed in the England of Queen Elizabeth I. by Sir John Harrington (link).
Later, in 1775, the Londoner Alexander Cumming(s) received a patent (Nr. 814) for the modern water closet or lavatory or however one may call it. Since 1848 these installations are obligatory according to a Public Health Act.
Ajax had all parts of a modern wc, inlcuding the bend or "Knie", a ventil etc.

    3. MAGO: So it's more Queen Elizabeth than Queen Victoria.

      Thank you.

  4. I just watched the final Victoria last night and now can't wait for the second season! Jenna Coleman is marvellous as Victoria, and Tom Hughes as her Albert is adorably po-faced, but endearing.

I love the feem-toon, and I've been listening to the Coronation theme over and over and over and over...

    1. MR. DeVICE: It gets even steamier when you discover that Tom Hughes (Prince Albert) is dating Jenna Coleman (Victoria) in real life.

The Coronation theme is hauntingly beautiful.

  5. Oh this is a gorgeous series! I know Aidan is on the other side, but Victoria is so well written and acted. I'll catch up with Poldark late at night.

    1. MISS SCARLET: Rufus Sewell as Lord Melbourne can give Aiden Turner a run for his money but unfortunately, there is no towel scene in Victoria.

    2. Indeed!!! I was seriously into Rufus long before Aidan was on the scene!!

    3. Try Carrington, lay-deez, for not just a Rufus Sewell towel scene, but a swimsuit shot as well... Jx

    4. JON: His swimsuit is quite snug in the “swimsuit area.”

      *adds Carrington to list*
